Seiko Presage Classic Limited Edition – Shiracha Dial & Sustainable Leather Strap
Hi Watchfam,
Seiko’s got something pretty tasty brewing in the Presage Classic line — and it’s called Shiracha. This 40.2 mm limited edition (only 3,000 pieces worldwide) brings warm autumn vibes, a strap with a cool backstory, and one of Seiko’s trusty in-house movements.
It’s the kind of release that makes you think, yep, they’ve nailed the balance between tradition and a fresh twist.
A Quick Word on the Presage Classic Series
The Classic Series is the quieter sibling of the Cocktail Time — still dressy, but with more laid-back, everyday versatility. Think clean dials, soft textures, and a design language that nods to the past without feeling stuck in it.
The Shiracha slots right in, but also stands out with a rich, earthy dial colour and a strap that’s unlike anything else in the range.
The Warmth of Shiracha
Under the dual-curved sapphire sits a smoky, brown-toned dial that Seiko calls Shiracha — a colour that was all the rage back in Japan’s Edo period. It’s textured to mimic soft Japanese silk, which gives it a subtle sheen as the light moves across it.
Depending on the angle, it can look golden and toasty or deep and chocolatey — one of those dials you’ll keep tilting on your wrist just to see what it does next. If you’re into Seiko’s knack for dial colours, you might remember the Seiko Blue Moon from the Cocktail Time series — different vibe, same attention to detail.
That Strap Though
For the first time in the Classic Series, we’re getting a brown calf leather strap — and here’s the fun bit: it’s made from upcycled offcuts of luxury shoe leather. Even the lining comes from the original shoe design.
It’s one of those details you could easily miss, but when you know it’s there, it makes you appreciate the watch even more. And let’s be honest — how often do you get to say your watch strap used to be part of a high-end shoe?

Inside – Calibre 6R55
Beating away inside is the 6R55, an in-house automatic with a solid three-day power reserve and accuracy of –15/+25 seconds per day. It’s the same movement family you’ll find in the King Seiko KSK 6R Collection, so you know it’s a reliable workhorse.
If you’re curious how it stacks up against Seiko’s other movements — from automatics to solar — my Are Seiko Solar Watches Good? guide covers the whole landscape.

Why I Think This One’s Interesting
We see a lot of limited editions, but this one’s got a few hooks:
A dial colour with some proper history behind it.
A strap story that’s actually worth telling.
Only 3,000 out there — so you’re not going to bump into someone else wearing one at the coffee shop.
And that classic Seiko mix of wearable, reliable, and just a little bit different.
If you want to see Seiko go in a completely different direction, check out my Seiko SLA085J1 review — no silk dials there, but plenty of personality.
