Hey there, watch aficionados! If you've been on the lookout for a watch that attempts to merge vintage charm with modern flair, you might want to pull up a chair. Today, we're dissecting Tissot's latest offering—the PRX Digital. Trust me, it's worth the time.

What Tissot Has To Say

Before we get into the nitty-gritty, let's listen to the horse's mouth, shall we? According to Tissot, the PRX Digital is a "tribute to the past and a toast to the future." Sporting dual time zones, day-date, chronograph, and a bevy of other features, this piece aims to be your go-to wristwear for practically any occasion. Sounds tempting, right? But what about the execution?

My First Impressions: On The Fence, But Curious

So when I got wind of this release, my initial thoughts were a mixed bag. Digital watches? Love 'em. But the pictures? They didn't really make my heart race, you know?  After all, it can be a hard task to take a digital watch and make it something a little more special. Also, with the huge success of the PRX analogue line who really wants or needs a digital version?

Real Talk: Why Seeing Is Believing

The first time I wrapped this 40mm digital version around my wrist, everything clicked. The PRX line's iconic case and bracelet, coupled with a digital twist, felt both fresh and familiar. Who knew you could marry nostalgia with modernity so smoothly? It clearly won’t be to everyone’s taste, but it really is one you need to see, hold and wear to appreciate, this is one solid-feeling watch on the wrist. It may have a digital display, but that retro design of the other watches in the PRX line is still intact.

The Fit: One For Every Wrist

Big applause to Tissot for launching both 40mm and 35mm variants in both steel and gold colors. No wrist left behind! On the first launch of the PRX line, I remember many watch enthusiasts wishing for a smaller version. Now the PRX is firmly rooted in Tissot’s line up the additional case sizes and materials are definitely being welcomed.

Who's It For?

Here's the real question: Do we even need a digital PRX? Well, according to Tissot's market research, we do. And honestly? Why not! So far from conversations over on my Instagram this one has been a bit of a hit with some people while others are not so sure. But the specifications put it a cut above your average digital piece so this one will definitely be one that lasts many years.

The Price Tag: Luxury or Just Expensive?

With a price point hovering under £400, this isn't a spontaneous buy. But hey, we're talking about a digital watch with sapphire crystal and 100 meters of water resistance and that fantastic bracelet here. That's got to count for something, right? Pricing is always so subjective and what’s cheap to one person could be very expensive to the next! So what it comes down to is what you like. From a specification point of view, I think the PRX Digital ticks all the right boxes. Yes, there are cheaper digital watches, but there are also ones that are far more expensive! I think Tissot has positioned this alongside the analog quartz PRX model not a step below it, so think of this as an option within the lineup as opposed to the entry point.

Final Thoughts

If you've got reservations, the Tissot PRX Digital is one of those watches you need to experience firsthand. It packs the best of both worlds: the PRX's signature look and feel, but with digital functionality. This will be something that you love, or maybe you are better off with the more traditional dialed versions? In the end, the choice is yours, but I think it’s great that Tissot is offering this choice, as it certainly seems to be resonating well with people.
