G-SHOCK x The Mandalorian and Grogu: Hands-On With the 2026 Star Wars Collaboration

G-SHOCK x The Mandalorian and Grogu 2026 watches displayed on their magnetic Bounty Hunter ID stands with themed packaging

Hey Watchfam,

I’ve always had a soft spot for Star Wars.

It’s one of those things I grew up with, and now I get to share it with my kids, which makes releases like this feel that little bit more special. There’s something brilliant about watching a story span generations, isn’t there? One minute you’re watching it as a kid, and the next you’re seeing your own children get drawn into that same galaxy of characters, ships, droids, and adventures.

So when G-SHOCK announced a new collaboration with Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, I was always going to be interested.

And yes, the release date is May 1st.

That feels very deliberate, doesn’t it?

The collaboration includes two watches: a GM-2100 inspired by The Mandalorian and a Baby-G BA-110 inspired by Grogu. On paper, that already sounds like a fun pairing. One is tougher, darker, and more armour-like. The other is bright, playful, and full of character.

But now I’ve had both watches in hand, I think this release works because it doesn’t try too hard. It takes two existing G-SHOCK models and gives them just enough Star Wars flavour to make them feel special, while still keeping them wearable.

And that matters.

Because as much as I love a fun collaboration, I still want the watch to feel like something I’d actually wear.

A G-SHOCK Star Wars Collaboration That Makes Sense

Some watch collaborations feel a bit random. A logo here, a colour change there, and suddenly it’s a “special edition”.

This one feels more natural.

G-SHOCK has always been about toughness, practicality, and resilience. These are watches made to take a knock and keep going. That has been the heart of the brand since the beginning, and it’s why so many of us end up with at least one G-SHOCK in the collection.

If you’re newer to the brand, my Beginner’s Introduction to G-SHOCK goes into more of that background and why these watches have such a strong following.

That rugged, practical side of G-SHOCK fits The Mandalorian surprisingly well.

Din Djarin’s whole world is built around armour, survival, travel, and gear that has to work when it matters. It’s not glossy or polished. It’s worn-in, useful, and built for the rough stuff.

That’s G-SHOCK territory all day long.

And then you’ve got Grogu, who brings the softer, more playful side of the story. That is where the Baby-G BA-110 comes in, and I actually think it’s a clever choice. It gives this release balance. One watch feels like armour, the other feels like personality.

G-SHOCK GM-2100 Mandalorian: A Beskar-Inspired CasiOak

The Mandalorian model is based on the GM-2100, which is part of the wider 2100 “CasiOak” family.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time with this case shape over the years, including the original resin GA-2100 and the metal-covered GM-2100. If you want more background on the model itself, my hands-on review of the G-SHOCK GM-2100 Steel CasiOak is probably the best place to start.

What I’ve always liked about the GM-2100 is that it gives you that familiar octagonal CasiOak shape, but with a little more presence thanks to the metal bezel.

This Mandalorian version keeps that same compact feel on wrist. It doesn’t suddenly become a big, awkward watch just because it has a metal exterior. It still wears really nicely, and on my 7-inch wrist it feels balanced and easy to live with.

But it does have a nice bit of heft to it.

Not heavy. Not bulky. Just solid.

That’s the thing I kept coming back to. It feels sturdy in that classic G-SHOCK way, but the metal outer case gives it a slightly more premium feel.

That Darker Steel Finish Works Really Well

The finish is the star of the show here.

G-SHOCK has leaned into that Beskar steel idea without making the watch look like a costume piece. The darker steel tone gives it a stealthy edge, but it still catches the light beautifully.

That’s where I think this version really gets it right.

A bright stainless steel G-SHOCK can look great, but it can also be quite reflective. This Mandalorian GM-2100 feels more controlled. The brushed areas soften the shine, while the edges still pick up enough light to keep it interesting.

For me, it sits right between a full stainless steel model and an all-black version.

It has more character than a blacked-out G-SHOCK, but it’s less flashy than polished steel. That makes it incredibly wearable.

It also suits the Mandalorian theme without needing obvious branding all over the dial. It feels inspired by the character rather than covered in references, and I much prefer that approach.

Mandalorian GM-2100 Specs and Functions

The GM-2100 base platform is already a strong everyday G-SHOCK, and this collaboration keeps the practical feature set that makes the model so easy to recommend.

Key specifications and functions include:

  • Case size: 49.3mm x 44.4mm x 11.8mm

  • Weight: approximately 72g

  • Resin and stainless steel case construction

  • Resin strap

  • Shock-resistant structure

  • Carbon Core Guard structure

  • 200m water resistance

  • Mineral glass

  • Analogue and digital display

  • World time with 31 time zones

  • 1/100-second stopwatch

  • Countdown timer

  • 5 daily alarms

  • Hourly time signal

  • Hand shift feature

  • Double LED light

  • Full auto-calendar

  • Approximate 3-year battery life

In real-world use, that means this is still very much a proper G-SHOCK. Yes, it has the Star Wars connection, but underneath that it remains a tough, practical, everyday watch.

And that’s important, because it means this doesn’t feel like a novelty piece.

It’s a watch you can actually wear.

Baby-G BA-110 Grogu: Bright, Playful, and Full of Energy

The Grogu version is completely different, and that’s exactly why it works.

This one is based on the Baby-G BA-110, and I’ll be honest, I hadn’t spent time with a BA-110 before this release.

The first thing that hits you is the colour.

It is vivid. Properly vivid.

This is not a watch trying to be subtle, and I don’t think it should be. The green case and strap immediately give it that Grogu connection, and the layered dial adds even more energy. There’s a lot going on visually, but that suits the watch.

It’s bright, fun, and a little bit wild.

And honestly, for summer, holidays, beach days, or a trip to Disney, that makes complete sense.

I also think this is the watch that will pull in people who might not normally be looking at G-SHOCK. It has that instant visual charm. You don’t need to know the model history or the specs to understand why it’s fun.

You just look at it and smile.

How the Grogu BA-110 Wears

On wrist, the BA-110 surprised me.

Because it’s a Baby-G, I expected it to feel smaller, but it still has a decent presence. On my 7-inch wrist, it wears comfortably and feels very light. The resin case and strap make it easy to throw on, and because it doesn’t have the weight of the metal GM-2100, it almost disappears once it’s on.

The dial has that busy, layered BA-110 look, with analogue hands, digital displays, and plenty of depth. It’s not minimalist. It’s not trying to be.

And that’s the point.

This is the more expressive watch of the two. The Mandalorian GM-2100 feels like the practical daily wearer. The Grogu BA-110 feels like the one you wear when you want a bit of fun on the wrist.

It also got the biggest reaction at home.

My son spotted it straight away and loved the colour and dial design. So I’ve got a feeling this one may not stay in my watch box for long. I can already see us debating who gets to wear it when we go and see the film.

That, for me, is part of the charm of this release.

It isn’t just about collecting. It’s about sharing the fun of it.

Grogu BA-110 Specs and Functions

The BA-110 is more playful in appearance, but it still has the practical toughness you’d expect from the Baby-G range.

Key specifications and functions include:

  • Case size: 46.3mm x 43.4mm x 15.8mm

  • Weight: approximately 45g

  • Resin case and bezel

  • Resin strap

  • Shock-resistant structure

  • 100m water resistance

  • Mineral glass

  • Analogue and digital display

  • World time

  • 1/100-second stopwatch

  • Countdown timer

  • 5 daily alarms

  • Hourly time signal

  • LED light

  • Full auto-calendar

  • Approximate 2-year battery life

So while the colour and theme are clearly the big talking points, this is still a useful watch. It’s light, tough, water resistant, and packed with the kind of everyday functions that make G-SHOCK and Baby-G watches so easy to live with.

If you like the broader G-SHOCK range but want something a bit more fun and expressive, this sits in a very different lane from models like the GA-2100. I explored some of those differences in my G-SHOCK GD-B500 vs GA-2100 comparison, which is worth a read if you’re deciding between different G-SHOCK styles.

G-SHOCK Mandalorian GM-2100 and Baby-G Grogu BA-110 watches displayed with themed Star Wars packaging and magnetic ID stands

Packaging and Bounty Hunter ID Display Stands

This is where the collaboration starts to feel more collectible.

Both watches come with themed packaging featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu, and it definitely adds to the experience. I know some people don’t care about boxes, but with collaborations like this, I think packaging matters.

It helps tell the story.

The really fun addition is the Bounty Hunter ID display stand.

Each watch comes with its own character-themed stand, and it folds flat before snapping together with magnets to hold the watch upright. It’s a simple idea, but a clever one.

If you’re a Star Wars fan or a collector, this is exactly the kind of extra you want. It means the watch doesn’t just have to sit in a box when you’re not wearing it. You can actually display it properly, and the artwork makes the whole package feel more complete.

I can see plenty of collectors wanting both watches just for the full display setup.

A Few Extra Details Would Have Been the Icing on the Cake

One thing I would have loved to see is a small Star Wars detail on the watches themselves.

Not loads. Nothing too obvious. I’m not asking for a giant helmet on the dial or Grogu ears on the case.

But maybe a subtle caseback engraving, a small dial detail, or something tucked away for fans to discover.

That would have been a lovely finishing touch.

It’s not a deal breaker at all, because the watches still work really well as they are. But when I think back to my Casio Back to the Future calculator watch review, part of what made that watch so enjoyable was the way the details tied into the story.

Here, the packaging and display stands do a lot of that heavy lifting.

The watches themselves are more subtle.

That will suit some people perfectly, especially if you prefer your collaborations to be wearable rather than too obvious. But as a Star Wars fan, I wouldn’t have complained about one or two hidden details on the watch itself.

GM-2100 vs BA-110: Which One Works Best?

These two watches are doing very different things.

The Mandalorian GM-2100 is the more versatile watch. It’s the one I’d wear day-to-day. The finish is subtle enough to work with most outfits, but still has enough character to feel different from a standard model.

The Grogu BA-110 is the fun one.

It’s bright, bold, and full of personality. It’s not trying to be your understated daily watch. It’s the one you wear when you want something cheerful, colourful, and a bit more playful.

That contrast is what makes the pair work so well.

If both watches had been dark and stealthy, the release would have felt too serious. If both had been bright and characterful, it might have felt too novelty. Instead, G-SHOCK has given us one of each.

A Mandalorian watch for the practical side.

A Grogu watch for the fun side.

That feels about right, doesn’t it?

Which One Would I Choose?

If I had to choose one, it would be the Mandalorian GM-2100.

That’s the one I’d wear the most. It fits my personal style better, and I love how the darker steel finish sits between full stainless steel and black resin. It feels rugged, wearable, and just that little bit more special than a standard GM-2100.

But I do have a real soft spot for the Grogu BA-110.

It’s the one that brings the smile.

It’s fun, bright, and perfect for summer. I can already see it getting wrist time on beach days, holidays, and when we head off to Disney. Although, judging by my son’s reaction, I may have to ask permission before borrowing it.

How This Fits Into the Wider G-SHOCK Range

One of the reasons this collaboration works is because both watches are built on recognisable G-SHOCK platforms.

The GM-2100 sits within that hugely popular 2100 family, which has become one of the most important modern G-SHOCK lines. If you want a broader look at that range, my hands-on guide to the G-SHOCK GA-B2100 seriescovers some of the solar Bluetooth models, while my original G-SHOCK GA-2100 review looks back at the resin CasiOak that helped kick off so much of the modern hype.

The BA-110 sits in a different space, but it brings that same G-SHOCK family feel in a lighter, more colourful package.

That’s why I think this release has broad appeal.

It isn’t just for hardcore Star Wars collectors. It isn’t just for G-SHOCK fans either. It sits somewhere between the two, and that gives it a much wider reach.

Release Date and Availability

The G-SHOCK x The Mandalorian and Grogu collaboration launches on May 1st, 2026.

The collection will be available through G-SHOCK stores, selected retailers, and online across the UK, EU, and US.

The timing is clever too, with Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu arriving in cinemas later in May.

So yes, if you’re interested in either of these, I wouldn’t hang around too long.

Final Thoughts

I think G-SHOCK has handled this collaboration really well.

The Mandalorian GM-2100 is subtle, solid, and genuinely wearable. It has that darker steel finish that gives it a proper Beskar-inspired feel, without turning it into something too loud or gimmicky.

The Grogu BA-110 is the opposite in the best way. Bright, vivid, playful, and full of character. It’s the one that stands out straight away, and I can see it being a brilliant summer watch.

Would I have liked a few extra Star Wars details on the dial or caseback? Yes, absolutely.

But as a full package, with the themed boxes and Bounty Hunter ID display stands, this still feels like a fun and well-judged release.

And for me, the best part is that it feels like something I can share with my kids.

That’s where this collaboration lands nicely. It isn’t just about two watches. It’s about a story that many of us grew up with, now being passed on to a new generation.

And if that happens with a G-SHOCK on the wrist?

Well, I’m not going to complain.
